Topics covered in this global line of research include technical and environmental assessment of the novel products and processes; valorization of lignocellulosic waste in biofuels and bioproducts; valorization of industrial waste by incorporation to ceramic matrices.

BioValWasValorization of lignocellulosic waste in biofuels and bioproducts − BioValWas

Study of all of the physic-chemical processes for the valorization of lignocellulosic waste in bioproducts including hydrolysis, digestion processes and detoxification of lignocellulosic materials for fermentation purposes. Study of the processes at laboratory and pilot scales, modeling and optimization. Development of lignocellulosic waste characterization and pulp and paper properties.

Valorization of industrial waste by incorporation to ceramic matrices − ValWasCera

Our global approach in this research line is the design of industrial systems including integration and interconnectivity with available energy and material flows. Our aim is the incorporation of waste and secondary materials to close industrial cycles under an Industrial Ecology approach. Specific applications include incorporation of industrial waste to ceramic matrices and cement based products.
